New Regulation For Carrying A Pistol Creates A Stir Among Archers

It seems that the new regulation for carrying a pistol for protection while archery hunting has created a stir among some archery hunters.

I was on a hunting forum recently where some people were outraged that the Washington Department of Wildlife was going to allow archery hunters to carry a handgun for protection. They were saying that it will only make the person carrying the handgun use it to poach with.

I personally feel that this new regulation was long over due. Ive been out several times where there were bears in the area and I sure would have liked to have a handgun by my side just in case. There’s nothing worse than coming across a bear with nothing more than a sharp stick in your hand.

And as for someone using a pistol to poach with while they are archery hunting. I feel that if a person will do this, they will poach no matter what the situation.

Maybe it’s just me.
